MANJARI NEHRU KAUL, J. (ORAL) Prayer in the instant petition filed under Article 226/227 of the Constitution of India is for issuance of directions to the official respondents to protect the life and liberty of the petitioner and his family members.

Learned counsel for the petitioner contends that on 04.04.2024, the private respondents trespassed into the house of the petitioner and indulged in an unprovoked attack on him, as a result of which the petitioner sustained injuries. Learned counsel has submitted that the petitioner got himself medico legally examined soon thereafter. Subsequently, though a complaint was made in the said regard to the Police Station concerned, however, for reasons best known, the official respondents had been sitting over the complaint and had not taken any steps to initiate action against the private respondent. Thereafter, the petitioner moved an application dated 22.05.2024 (Annexure P-1) before Senior Superintendent of Police, Amrtisar (Rural), wherein again the petitioner apprised the official respondents about the crime PUNEET SACHDEVA 2024.07.09 17:32 I attest to the accuracy and integrity of this document Chandigarh

After arguing for some time, learned counsel for the petitioner submits that the petitioner would be satisfied if directions are issued to respondent No.2-Senior Superintendent of Police, Amritsar (Rural), to look into the representation dated 22.05.2024 (Annexure P-1) of the petitioner and take appropriate steps in accordance with law.

On asking of the Court, Mr. Navdeep Singh, Deputy Advocate General, Punjab, accepts notice on behalf of the official respondents.

In the wake of the limited prayer of the petitioner, the instant petition is disposed of and respondent No.2Senior Superintendent of Police, Amritsar (Rural), is directed to look into the grievance of the petitioner and take appropriate steps, if any required, at the earliest under the provisions of law. However, if respondent No.2 does not find any substance in the allegations levelled in the representation dated 22.05.2024 (Annexure P-1), then the petitioner shall be duly informed as per the parameters laid down by Hon'ble the Supreme Court in Lalita Kumari v. Government of Uttar Pradesh & Ors. 2013 (4) RCR (Criminal) 979.
