Petitioner Amandeep Singh has invoked the jurisdiction of this Court under Article 226 of the Constitution of India, in the nature of mandamus, with a prayer for issuance of directions to respondent No.3, to protect his life and liberty, which is in danger, at the hands of respondents No.5 to 9.

It is submitted by learned counsel for the petitioner that the present petitioner is President of Parbandhak Committee of Gurudwara Shaheed Ganj Sahib Salala. Since, he was elected as President of Parbandhak Committee, the private respondents, refused to accept him as such and they were nursing grudge, qua the post occupied by the petitioner. Also, further it is submitted that at earlier time also, respondents No.5 to 9 had caught hold of the petitioner and bullied him, as a result whereof, they have taken off his turban and even, pulled the 'Gatra Sahib', relating to which, FIR No.204 dated 13.12.2022 at Police Station Adampur was got registered under Sections 323, 341, 295-A, 148 IPC, copy whereof is VINEET GULATI 2024.06.03 15:56 I attest to the accuracy and authenticity of this document Chandigarh

CRWP-5291-2024 -2Annexure P-2. However, it is submitted that no progress is made, with regard to the completion of investigation, in the aforesaid FIR. Now, respondents No.5 to 9 are pressurizing the petitioner to enter into compromise, relating to the aforesaid FIR.

Even, it is submitted that representation, with regard to seeking protection of his life and liberty has been filed by the petitioner before SSP, Jalandhar (Rural), copy whereof is Annexure P-3. It was filed on 10.05.2024, but no action has been initiated, on the said representation and the same is still pending.

Notice of motion.

Mr.Solomon Partap Singh, Asstt. Advocate General, Punjab, who is present in the Court, accepts notice on behalf of the respondents No.1 to 4 and assures about the decision on the representation, within a period of seven days from today onwards.

On the assurance given by learned State counsel, on instructions from ASI David Masih, P.S. Adampur, Jalandhar, who is present in the Court today, the present petition is disposed of, with the observations that concerned Superintendent of Police, shall consider the representation (Annexure P-3) within a period of seven days and initiate appropriate action, if so called, qua respondents No.5 to 9.
