The present writ petition has been filed under Article 226/227 of the Constitution of India for issuance of writ in the nature of mandamus directing official respondents No.2 and 3 to protect the life and liberty of the petitioners at the hands of private respondents No.4 to 23 and to take appropriate action against them for beating mercilessly, threatening and harassing the petitioners or interfere in the peaceful married life of petitioners No.1 and 2 at the instance of private respondents No.4 to 23 and not to intrude into the privacy of the petitioners. 2.

Learned counsel for the petitioners has submitted that for redressal of their grievance, the petitioners have already filed representation dated 29.04.2026 (Annexure P-4) before the Senior Superintendent of Police, Patiala, however, no action has been taken on the same till date. 3.

On the asking of the Court, Mr. Sahil Chowdhary, AAG, Punjab, accepts notice on behalf of the respondent-State. 5.

Without commenting upon the merits of the case and in view of the submission made by learned counsel for the petitioners, the present petition is disposed of with a direction to respondent No.2-Senior Superintendent of Police, Patiala, to decide the representation dated 29.04.2026 (Annexure P-4) filed by the petitioners, qua threat perception in accordance with law within a period of one month from today and grant immediate protection, if any threat to the lives and liberty of the petitioners, is perceived.

It is being clarified that this order shall not be taken to grant immunity to the petitioners for legal action for violation of law, if any, committed by them.
