Mr.Harkesh Manuja,Addl.AG Punjab for respondents Jaswant Singh,J(Oral) Petitioner Jasbir Kaur is widow of late Sh.Surjit Singh, who while working as a Driver with the Transport Department,Punjab died in harness in the year 2011.

The grievance raised in the present petition under Articles 226/227 of the Constitution is regarding non-release of Death-cumRetirement Gratutity (hereinafter referred to as DCRG) to the legal representatives of the deceased employee.

It appears that responsibility to release the amount of DCRG was being shifted between the office of General Manager, Punjab Roadways, Batala Depot and District Treasury Officer,Batala. Upon notice, short reply by way of affidavit of Yudhvir Saini, District Treasury Officer, Gurdaspur has been filed alongwith CM No.7374/2016. The said CM is allowed and reply is taken on record. In the reply it is stated that the due amount of Rs.6,51,398/- towards DCRG has since been released in equal shares to the legal RAJINDER PRASHAD JOSHI 2016.07.05 10:42 I attest to the accuracy and integrity of this document
