Petitioner Simranjeet Singh Chouhan, aged about 26 years, son of Kuldeep Singh Chouhan, resident of House No. 8-C, Taylor Road, backside Gandhi Ground, Amritsar feeling aggrieved by the slow pace of proceedings in petition under Section 12 of the Hindu Marriage Act filed by him against his wife Jasmine Kaur pending before Additional Principal Judge, Family Court, Amritsar has approached this Court by way of filing the instant revision petition under Article 227 of the Constitution of India.

A perusal of the interim order dated 10.3.2021 passed by Additional Principal Judge, Family Court, Amritsar goes to show that from 10.3.2021, the petition was adjourned to 16.7.2021 for issuing notice to the respondent. Though the functioning of the Courts has been adversely effected on account of outbreak of Covid-19 pandemic but even then the date given is quite long i.e. for more than four months.

Civil Revision No. 1673 of 2021 next date of hearing before the trial Court is 23.9.2021. Of course, expeditious trial is right of every litigant. The first date given by the trial Court seems to be a quite long, therefore, the instant petition is disposed of directing the Court of Additional Principal Judge, Family Court, Amritsar to make earnest endeavors for expeditious trial in the case by giving short adjournments.
