**** AJAY KUMAR MITTAL, J. (Oral) The prayer in this writ petition filed under Articles 226/227 of the Constitution of India, which is in the form Public Interest Litigation (PIL), is to issue directions to the respondents to enhance the monthly remuneration payable to the village Chowkidar(s) appointed under the Punjab Chhaukidara Rules, 1876. A further prayer for direction to the respondents to decide the Legal Notice dated 23.12.2014 (appended as Annexure P-2) served by the petitioner, has also been made. 2.

Upon notice of motion having been issued, reply on behalf of the respondents has been filed, wherein, it has been inter alia submitted that the remuneration of the Chowkidar have been revised from time to time. The details of these has been given in para 8 of the reply on merits, which reads thus:- 8.

That the orders passed by this Hon'ble Court in various CWPs had been complied with and speaking orders were passed from time to time, as per detail shown in the preliminary submissions. Remuneration of the Chowkidar Jawala Ram 2017.10.06 13:44 I attest to the accuracy and authenticity of this document Chandigarh

CWP No. 11320 of 2016 - 2 - was revised from time to time. Detail is as under:- 08-09-1975 from Rs. 40/- to Rs. 60/- 01-08-1980 Rs.100/- 31-10-1989 Rs.200/- 01-04-1993 Rs.300/- 01-04-1997 Rs.400/- 01-04-2000 Rs.600/- 01-01-2005 Rs.700/- 01-06-2010 Rs.800/- 01-09-2015 Rs.1000/- 3.

A perusal of the above contents shows that the State is modifying/revising the remuneration to be paid to the Chowkidar from time to time. Accordingly, no further action is called for. 4.
