( Through Video Conferencing ) **** HARSIMRAN SINGH SETHI , J. (ORAL) Petitioners have filed the present petition raising an apprehension of threat to their life and liberty at the hands of private respondents No.5 to 17.

Learned counsel for the petitioners submits that son of the petitioners No.1 and 2 married to the daughter of respondents No.5 and 6, which marriage took place against the wishes of respondents No.5 and 6 and even as of now, the family of the petitioners is not allowed to reside in peace and the private respondents are trying to harm the petitioners in one way or the other. Learned counsel for the petitioners submits that

-2though, the protection was granted to son and daughter-in-law of petitioners No.1 and 2, but the family is being harassed by the private respondents.

Learned counsel for the petitioners submits that the said harassment has already been brought to the notice of Senior Superintendent of Police, Amritsar (Rural), vide representation dated 22.07.2021 (Annexure P-6), which is still pending consideration with the said authority and the petitioners will be satisfied, at this stage, in case a time bound direction is issued to respondent No.2 to decide the said representation by passing an appropriate speaking order. Notice of motion.

Mr. Sandeep Singh Deol, Deputy Advocate General, Punjab, who has joined the proceedings through video conference, keeping in view the service of advance copy of petition accepts notice on behalf of respondent-State.

Learned State counsel raises no objection with regard to prayer of the petitioners for deciding the representation dated 22.07.2021 (Annexure P-6) by respondent No.2 in a time bound manner by passing an appropriate speaking order.

In view of the above, without expressing any opinion on the merits of the case or the claim being made by the petitioners in representation dated 22.07.2021 (Annexure P-6), respondent No.2 is directed to decide the representation dated 22.07.2021 (Annexure P-6) by passing a speaking order within a period of eight weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.
