Main Case 1.
Learned counsel for the petitioners prays for disposing of the matter for consideration in light of the judgment in CWP-468-1986 titled Surinder Mohan Singh and others vs. State of Punjab and another, decided on 22.01.2003, Annexure P-1, in a time bound manner, while he, on instructions, gives up the second prayer made in the petition as the petitioners are about to retire, to which learned State counsel has no objection. 2.
In view of the above and without commenting upon the merits of the case, this petition is hereby disposed of with a direction to the respondents to consider and decide the claim of the petitioners, taking note of the aforesaid judgment, within a period of 4 months, which this Court has no reason to believe the authorities would not address in a just, fair and reasonable manner. CWP-21434-2011 (O&M) grant the benefit forthwith. Needless to say, if the orders are adverse to their interest, the same shall contain reasons and the petitioners shall be free to seek legal redress thereupon.
