Grewal, J.(Oral) The present petition has been filed under Section 528 of Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023 (for short-'BNSS') for quashing of FIR No.0167 dated 18.08.2024 under Sections 143(2), 61(2) and 62 of BNS (Section 143(4) of BNS added later on) registered at Police Station City Rupnagar, District Rupnagar and all the subsequent proceedings arising therefrom, on the basis of compromise deed dated 05.05.2025 (Annexure P-2). 2.

Mr. Kamalpreet Bawa, DAG, Punjab accepts notice on behalf of the respondent-State.
Learned State counsel states that no other FIR has been registered against the petitioners and they have no criminal antecedents. 4.

In that view of the matter, even if this case is taken to its logical conclusion, it would only be an exercise in futility as the parties have already settled their differences. Therefore, no purpose would be served in wasting the time and resources of the State in pursuing this case to its pre-ordained end. It would, therefore, be better to give a quietus to the issue at this stage. 6.
Accordingly, the petition is allowed and FIR No.0167 dated 18.08.2024 under Sections 143(2), 61(2) and 62 of BNS (Section 143(4) of BNS added later on) registered at Police Station City Rupnagar, District Rupnagar and all the subsequent proceedings arising therefrom, on the basis of compromise dated 05.05.2025 (Annexure P-2) shall stand quashed qua the petitioners.
