Learned counsel for the petitioner submits that entire retiral benefits due towards the petitioner have been released to him after counting the service rendered by him with the Public Health Department and Punjab Water Supply and Sewerage Board. CWP No.15835 of 2013 [2] However, there is a delay in release of the said payments as reflected in Para 1 of the preliminary submissions in written statement filed on behalf of respondent No.4.
Learned counsel for respondent No.4 submits that delay has occurred because the petitioner was working with various departments prior to serving with respondent No.4. It is only due to this reason that delay has occurred.
No plausible reason is forthcoming for delay in release of the retiral benefits to the petitioner who retired on 31.08.2010. In this view of the matter, it is directed that interest at the rate of 8% per annum be paid on the payments released on 27.12.2010 and thereafter as reflected in Para 1 of the preliminary submissions as above. Writ petition is accordingly disposed of.
