Learned counsel for the applicant-petitioner has placed on file receipt of `19,500/-, i.e. 15% of the settlement amount deposited with the Legal Services Committee of this Court.
Petitioner was convicted and sentenced to undergo imprisonment for six months for the offence punishable under Section 138 of Negotiable Instruments Act for dishonour of cheque of `1,15,000/- issued by the petitioner to the complainant. He filed appeal, which was also dismissed by Additional Sessions Judge, Chandigarh. Thereafter, under the compromise, the petitioner paid a sum of `1,30,000/- to the complainantSACHIN MEHTA 2018.08.17 14:09 I attest to the accuracy and authenticity of this document HIGH COURT, CHANDIGARH respondent and compounded the offence. He has also deposited 15% of the

Learned counsel for the complainant submits that the matter has since been amicably settled, as such, he has no objection, if the permission to compound the offence is allowed. Accordingly, this application is allowed. The offences under Section 138 of Negotiable Instruments Act is allowed to be compounded.
CRR-2590-2018 On composition of the offence, petitioner stands acquitted of the charge framed against him.
