The petitioner has been defeated in the Gram Panchayat elections held on 10.01.2016. He is said to have filed some objections questioning the manner in which votes were polled.

Such a plea, in our considered view, can be effectively raised by the petitioner in election petition. (3)
The instant writ petition is disposed of with liberty to petitioner to institute the election petition, if so advised, however, keeping in view all the attending circumstances, the Election Tribunal is directed to ensure that the election petition, if so filed, is decided within six months.
