JASWANT SINGH, J (ORAL) The petitioner retired from service as Sub Inspector on 31.3.2016 on reaching the age of superannuation of 58 years. By filing the present writ petition, he has impugned order dated 24.2.2016 (P.2) whereby his prayer for grant of one year extension in service w.e.f 01.4.2016 till 31.3.2017 was declined on account of imposition of major punishment, which was subsequently set aside by the Appellate Authority.
Upon notice, learned State counsel has filed a reply by way of short affidavit of Gurvinderpal Singh, DSP, Headquarters, Gurdaspur wherein it is stated that the impugned order (P.2) has since been cancelled and the fresh order dated 04.7.2016 has been passed granting one year extension of service to the petitioner from the age of 58 years to 59 years i.e upto 31.3.2017. In view of the above, learned counsel for the parties are agreed that the present writ petition has become infructuous. Dismissed as infructuous.
