Learned counsel for the petitioner submits that petitioner was awarded sentence of imprisonment for life in case bearing FIR No.75 dated 13.07.1997 registered at Police Station Sector-19, Chandigarh for offence punishable under Sections 302, 460, 394 read with Section 34 of Indian Penal Code. Till 30.03.2017, he had undergone 27 years, 10 months and 17 days of imprisonment, which include the period of remissions earned by him. Despite undergoing such a long period of incarceration, the respondents have not considered his case for grant of premature release. In view of submission of learned counsel for the petitioner, this petition is disposed of with direction to the respondents to look into the grievance of the petitioner as contained in petition and to take appropriate action in accordance with law, within a period of three months of the receipt of this order along with copy of petition.
