(ORAL) Case is taken up for hearing through video conferencing. This petition has been filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India for directing respondents No. 2 and 3 to protect the life and liberty of the petitioners from the hands of respondents No. 4 to 8. Learned counsel for the petitioners states that both the petitioners are major and have married against the wishes of respondents No. 4 to 8 and have sought protection to their life and liberty. They apprehend danger from respondents No. 4 to 8. The marriage certificate, evidencing the marriage of the petitioners, is on record as Annexure P-3. The petitioners have submitted a representation dated 21.8.2021, Annexure P-4 to Senior Superintendent of Police, Fazilka-respondent No. 2.

Notice of motion to respondents No. 1 to 3-State only. On the asking of the Court, Mr. H.S.Sitta, AAG, Punjab, accepts notice on behalf of the State.

CRWP No. 8054 of 2021 -2Without entering upon an exercise to evaluate the evidentiary value of the documents placed on the file, I dispose of the petition with directions to Senior Superintendent of Police, Fazilka-respondent No. 2 to decide the representation of the petitioners, dated 21.8.2021 (Annexure P-4) and grant them protection, if any threat to their life and liberty is perceived. It is made clear that this order shall not be taken to protect the petitioners from legal action for violation of law if any committed by them. At this stage, learned counsel for respondents No. 4 and 5 submits that the parents of petitioner No. 1 want to have an interaction with their daughter Anu Rani.

Learned counsel for the petitioners does not have any objection to said prayer provided such interaction is allowed only in the premises of Police Station Vairo Ke, District Fazilka.

Learned State counsel submits that the SHO, Police Station Vario Ke, District Fazilka, will make necessary arrangements for interaction between petitioner No. 1 and the parents i.e. respondents No. 4 and 5 at Police Station Vairo Ke, District Fazilka.

Keeping in view the above, the parents of petitioner No. 1 and the petitioners are directed to appear before the SHO, Police Station Vairo Ke, District Fazilka, for interaction on 27.8.2021. Concerned SHO is directed to make all necessary arrangements for the same and also to ensure that no untoward incident takes place.
