The present petition has been filed under Articles 226/227 of the Constitution of India praying for the issuance of a writ in the nature of Mandamus directing respondents No.2 and 3 to protect the life, liberty and property of the petitioners at the hands of private respondents No.4 and 5, who are continuously threatening, intimidating and attempting to forcibly dispossess the petitioners from the property of petitioner No.2. 2.
Learned counsel appearing for the petitioners has submitted that for redressal of their grievance, the petitioners have already filed representations Annexures P-1 and P-2 before the Station House Officer (City), Police Station Nakodar and representations Annexures P-3 and P-4 to the Senior Superintendent of Police (Rural), Jalandhar, however, no action has been taken on the same till date.

On the asking of the Court, Mr. Sahil Chowdhary, AAG, Punjab, accepts notice on behalf of the respondent-State. 5.
Without commenting upon the merits of the case and in view of the submission made by learned counsel appearing for the petitioners, the present petition is disposed of with a direction to respondent No.2-Senior Superintendent of Police (Rural), Jalandhar, to decide the representations Annexures P-1 and P-2 filed by the petitioners, qua threat perception in accordance with law within a period of one month from today and grant immediate protection, if any threat to the life and liberty of the petitioners, is perceived.

It is being clarified that this order shall not be taken to grant immunity to the petitioners for legal action for violation of law, if any, committed by them.
