(Presence marked through video conference) ARUN MONGA, J. (ORAL) Petitioners herein seek issuance of a writ in the nature of mandamus directing the official respondents to protect their life and liberty from the hands of respondents No.4 to 7.

Learned counsel for the petitioners submits that both the petitioners are major/marriageable age and it is their first marriage. Learned counsel for respondent No.6 appears and submits that parents of the girl are ready to accept this marriage regardless of the caste and status of their son-in-law.

Heard the learned counsel for the parties.

The contents of the petition along with Annexures thereof have been perused.

The present petition is disposed of with a direction to respondent No.2 i.e. Senior Superintendent of Police, Amritsar that the contents of the representation dated 22.09.2020 (Annexure P-5) seeking protection of life and liberty, be duly verified and if necessary, requisite steps be taken, in accordance SONU 2020.09.25 06:43 I attest to the accuracy and integrity of this document

with law for grant of protection of life and liberty to the petitioners. It is clarified that this order shall neither be treated as a stamp of this Court qua marriage of the petitioners nor any reflection on the merits of the contentions raised by them in the present petition.
