Learned counsel for the petitioner submits that the Superintendent Central Jail, Jalandhar has recommended the case of petitioner-convict for release on parole to District Magistrate, Ludhiana vide letter dated 18.10.2016 and thereafter on transfer of petitioner-convict to Central Jail, Ludhiana, Superintendent Central Jail, Ludhiana issued reminders dated 17.04.2017 and 31.10.2017 but the District Magistrate, Ludhiana has not passed any order despite the fact that petitioner is entitled to release on parole as provisions of Section 3(1) (d) of the Punjab Good Conduct Prisoners (Temporary Release) Act, 1962. Notice of motion.

The petition is disposed of with direction to District Magistrate, Ludhiana to pass orders on the recommendations made by Superintendent, Central Jail, Jalandhar/ Ludhiana recommending the release of petitioner on parole as per provisions of the Punjab Good Conduct Prisoners (Temporary Release) Act, 1962 within a period of six weeks on receipt of copy of this order.
