(ORAL) By way of the instant petition, both the petitioners seek the indulgence of this Court for the issuance of a direction to respondents No.2 and 3 to protect their lives and liberty as they apprehend threat to the same at the hands of respondents No.4 and 5 because they (petitioners) are living in relationship. It has also been mentioned in this petition that a representation (Annexure P-2) has already been moved to respondent No.2 in this regard. Mr. Sandeep Singh Deol, learned Deputy Advocate General, Punjab, has appeared on behalf of respondents No.1 to 3 in this case in pursuance of the copies of the present petition having been sent to the respondent-State in advance.
Heard.
It is worth-while to mention here that it has categorically been averred in para No.3 of the petition that the marriage of petitioner No.1 Karamjeet Kaur had been solemnized with one Harpreet Singh in the year 2017 and vide the Panchayati Talaknama (document regarding divorce before the Panchayat), she took divorce from her husband. To add to it, a perusal of representation Annexure P-2 reveals that the petitioners have made a prayer NEETU RANI 2022.07.26 18:41 I attest to the accuracy and authenticity of this order/judgment PHHC

therein for punishing the accused persons in accordance with law for the offence allegedly committed by them.
At this stage, learned counsel for the petitioners submits that both the petitioners shall be moving a fresh representation to respondent No.2- -Commissioner of Police, Ludhiana, within two (02) days, exclusively praying therein for the protection of their lives and liberty and he further prays that the said respondent be directed to look into and take appropriate action on their (petitioners') fresh representation.
Learned State counsel has no objection for the same. Resultantly, the petition in hand stands disposed of with a direction to respondent No.2 that in case the petitioners move any fresh representation to him specifically restricting their prayer therein to the protection of their lives and liberty only, he shall look into the same and in case the petitioners would be found to be genuinely deserving the said protection, then he shall take appropriate action in accordance with law, in the given set of the facts and circumstances of the matter.
However, it is clarified that this order shall not be construed to be a shield to the petitioners against any action/proceedings already initiated or intended/contemplated to be initiated against them by the competent authority/person on account of their afore-said relationship and permissible under any relevant provisions of law.
