Kiran Jeet Kaur and Ravi Mohammad, the petitioners before this Court, claim themselves to be major. They have pleaded that they have performed Nikahnama on 22.09.2020 against the wishes of respondents No.4 to 8 and seek protection of their life and liberty. They apprehend danger from respondents No.4 to 8. They have placed on record photographs and marriage certificate/Nikahanama, Annexures P-3 and P-4, respectively, evidencing their Nikahnama. The petitioners have submitted a representation Annexure P-5 to Senior Superintendent of Police, Rupnagar, District Rupnagar.

CRWP No.7703 of 2020 {2} Without entering upon an exercise to evaluate the evidentiary value of the documents placed on the file, the petition is disposed of with direction to respondent No.2 to decide the representation of the petitioners, Annexure P-5 and grant them protection, if any threat to their life and liberty is perceived. It is made clear that this order shall not be taken to protect the petitioners from legal action for violation of law, if any, committed by them.
