(ORAL) Case is taken up for hearing through video conferencing. This petition has been filed under Article 226 of the Constitution for issuance of a writ in the nature of mandamus directing respondents No.2 & 3 to protect the life and liberty of the petitioners at the hands of respondents No.4 to 8.

Learned counsel for the petitioners states that both the petitioners are major and have married against the wishes of respondents No.4 to 8 and have sought protection to their life and liberty. They apprehend danger at the hands of respondents No.4 to 8. The photographs and certificate evidencing their marriage are on record as Annexure P-3 & P4, respectively. Petitioners have submitted a representation dated 22.09.2020 (Annexure P-5) to respondent No.2. Notice of motion to respondents No.1 to 3 only. -2CRWP-7695-2020 accepts notice on behalf of respondents No.1 to 3. At this stage, Mr. Raj Kumar Rathore, Advocate appears for respondents No.4 and 5, who are the parents of Anterpreet Kaur-petitioner No.1 and has submitted that the parents want to meet their daughter. Without entering upon an exercise to evaluate the evidentiary value of the documents placed on the file, I dispose of the present petition with a direction to respondent No.2 to decide the representation dated 22.09.2020 (Annexure P-5) moved by the petitioners, and grant protection to the petitioners, if any threat to their life and liberty is perceived. It is made clear that this order shall not be taken to protect the petitioners from legal action for violation of law, if any, committed by them.

This Court finds that it is a genuine case of the parents to meet their daughter-petitioner No.1. Therefore, the petitioners Anterpreet Kaur and Harsimranjeet Singh are directed to be present in the office of SHO of Police Station, Singh Bhagwant Pura, District Rupnagar on 30.09.2020 at 11.00 am where the SHO concerned will facilitate the meeting of petitioner No.1 and respondents No.4 and 5 for one hour only. 25.09.2020 (HARNARESH SINGH GILL) ishwar JUDGE Whether reasoned/speaking?
