(Oral) Petitioner Sr. Ct. Manjit Singh and 11 others have jointly filed the present writ petition inter alia with a prayer to direct the respondents to release the amount of Contributory Provident Fund contribution made by the petitioners along with interest accrued thereon, being covered by the order passed by this Hon'ble High Court in favour of similarly situated person in CWP No. 2503 of 2020 titled as Avtar Singh and others Versus State of Punjab and others decided on 30.01.2020, CWP No. 5480 of 2020, titled as Harbans Lal and others Versus State of Punjab and others, decided on 28.02.2020 (Annexures P-4 and P-5).

Learned counsel submits that for the same/similar grievance, the petitioner has got served a legal notice dated 20.05.2021 JYOTI 2021.09.15 14:34 I attest to the accuracy and integrity of this document

CWP-16856 of 2021 -2- (P6) upon the respondents but its response is still awaited. Notice of motion.

Ms. Kanica Sachdeva, Asst. A.G., Punjab accepts notice on behalf of the respondents, through video conferencing. At this stage, learned counsel makes a request that the petitioners would be satisfied if a direction is issued to the competent authority to decide the legal notice in a time bound manner. Having heard learned counsel for the parties and without commenting upon the merits of the case, the writ petition is disposed of with a direction to respondent No. 2-The Director General of Police, Punjab, to examine the pleas raised in the legal notice and decide the claim of the petitioners as contained in the legal notice (P6) by passing a speaking order within five months from the date of receipt of certified copy of this order.

Needless to say that in case the petitioners are found entitled on merits to the claim as raised in the legal notice, the same be disbursed within one month from the date of decision of the legal notice.

So ordered.
