The present petition has been filed under Articles 226/227 of the Constitution of India for issuance of a writ in the nature of Mandamus directing respondents No.1 to 3 to provide police protection to the petitioners against threats to their life and liberty and against false implication by respondents No.4 and 5 in the interest of justice and fair play.

Learned counsel appearing for the petitioners has submitted that for redressal of their grievance, the petitioners have already filed representation dated 04.05.2026 (Annexure P-4) before the Senior Superintendent of Police, Ludhiana Rural and Station House Officer, Police Station Maloudh, District Ludhiana, however, no action has been taken on the same till date.

On the asking of the Court, Mr. Sahil Chowdhary, AAG, Punjab, accepts notice on behalf of the respondent-State. 5.
Without commenting upon the merits of the case and in view of the submission made by learned counsel appearing for the petitioners, the present petition is disposed of with a direction to respondent No.2-Senior Superintendent of Police, Ludhiana, to decide the representation dated 04.05.2026 (Annexure P-4) filed by the petitioners, qua threat perception in accordance with law within a period of one month from today and grant immediate protection, if any threat to the life and liberty of the petitioners, is perceived.

It is being clarified that this order shall not be taken to grant immunity to the petitioners for legal action for violation of law, if any, committed by them.
