In this writ petition filed under Articles 226/227 of the Constitution of India, the petitioner has prayed for issuance of a writ in the nature of mandamus directing the respondents to promote the District Defense Services Welfare Officer and Deputy Director to the post of Additional Director by upgrading the post in view of the memo date 26.12.2013 (Annexure P-3).

After arguing for some time, when the Bench was not agreeing, learned counsel for the petitioner submitted that he may be permitted to withdraw the present writ petition (PIL).
