This matter is being taken up for hearing through video conferencing due to outbreak of the pandemic, COVID-19. Petitioners claim compensation on account of death of Santosh i.e., husband of petitioner No.1 and father of petitioners No.2 to 4, which is stated to have occurred due to electrocution on account of alleged negligence and carelessness on the part of respondent-authorities for not properly maintaining the high tension wires going above the agricultural land of the deceased.
Learned counsel for the petitioners refers to the post-mortem report dated 26.02.2018 (Annexure P2) whereby the cause of death of Santosh is mentioned as 'failure of cardio-respiratory system due to electrocution which OMKAR SINGH 2021.09.06 10:23 I attest to the accuracy and integrity of this document High Court, Chandigarh
CWP No.17279 of 2021 -2is sufficient to cause death'. DDR dated 26.02.2018 (Annexure P1) is also stated to have been recorded in respect to the unfortunate incident. It is submitted that despite numerous representations, no action is being taken by the respondent-authorities.
At this stage, learned counsel for the petitioners restricts the prayer for a decision on representations dated 28.01.2020 (Annexures P3 to P3/B) in a time bound manner.

Mr. Sharan Sethi, Addl.AG, Haryana accepts notice on behalf of respondent No.1. At the asking of the Court, Mr. Ashish Yadav, Advocate accepts notice on behalf of respondents No.2 to 5. Keeping in view the facts and circumstances as well as the limited prayer addressed, but without expressing any opinion on the merits of the case, this writ petition is disposed of with a direction to the competent authority to decide representations dated 28.01.2020 (Annexure P3 to P3/B), in accordance with law by passing a speaking order, after affording the petitioners an opportunity of hearing and producing any other relevant document, within a period of three months from date of receipt of certified copy of the order. Compensation, if any, found due towards the petitioners, be released to them within six weeks thereafter.
