(Oral) The petitioners have approached this Court seeking issuance of a direction to official respondents to protect their lives and liberty as they apprehend threat to the same at the hands of respondents No.4 to 6 who are related to petitioner No.1-Surinder Kaur.
Learned counsel for the petitioners has submitted that petitioner No.1-Surinder Kaur was earlier married to Paramjit Singh who expired in the year 2017. It is submitted that ever since the death of husband of petitioner No.1, she has been residing with her parents but her parents and other relatives have been pressing upon her to perform marriage with a person who is in fact a drunkard and an addict. Being unable to bear the pressure being mounted upon her, she left her home and started residing with petitioner No.2-Kulwant Singh who is residing separately from his wife since the year 2014.

- 2 - CRWP-8261-2021 (O&M) Learned counsel has submitted that the private respondents do not approve of the petitioners residing together and are all out to cause harm to them. It has been submitted that although petitioner No.1 submitted a representation dated 19.8.2021 (Annexure P-3) to respondent No.2-Senior Superintendent of Police, Fazilka, but to no avail. Having heard the learned counsel for the petitioners and while refraining from making any expression as regards the veracity of the averments made in the petition, the petition is disposed of with a direction to respondent No.2 i.e. Senior Superintendent of Police, Fazilka, to look into the matter and to dispose of the representation dated 19.8.2021 (Annexure P3) in accordance with law.
In case, it is found that there is any genuine threat to the lives and liberty of the petitioners at the hands of respondents No.4 to 6, then necessary steps warranted under law be taken thereupon at the earliest so as to ensure that no harm is caused to the petitioners. A copy of this order alongwith copy of the representation dated 19.8.2021 be sent to Senior Superintendent of Police, Fazilka (respondent No.2), so as to enable him to do the needful expeditiously. It is, however, clarified that the aforesaid order shall not confer any immunity upon the petitioners, in case it is found that they have committed any wrong.
