**** JAISHREE THAKUR, J. (ORAL) Counsel for the petitioners contends that the petitioners, who are working as Pump Operators, Mali-cum-Chowkidar, Fitter Coolie, FitterHelpers etc. in the Department of Water Supply and Sanitation on a regular basis, would be entitled to minimum of pay scale of regularly engaged government employees holding the same posts from the date of their initial appointments in terms of the judgment rendered by the Apex Court in State of Punjab &others vs. Jagjit Singh and others, 2017 (1) SCC 148. Counsel for the petitioners submits that in this regard, a legal notice dated 29.11.2016 (Annexure P-3) has already been served upon the respondents. At the present moment, limited prayer is made that the respondents should be directed to decide the claim as set up in the said legal notice as expeditiously as possible.
I have heard learned counsel for the petitioners and in view of the limited prayer made, without going into the merits of the case, the respondents are hereby directed to decide the claim as set up in the legal notice dated 29.11.2016 (Annexure P-3) by passing a speaking order within Satyawan 2017.05.19 12:14 I attest to the accuracy and authenticity of this document High Court Chandigarh
