Status report on behalf of respondents no. 1 to 3 has been filed in court. Same is taken on record. Paras 2a & 2d thereof reads as under:- "2a That a complaint was received on 18.11.2017 from the petitioner stating therein that her daughter, namely Jyoti, aged 21 years, left the house in the intervening night of 17.11.201818.11.2018, without informing anybody, therefore, an inquiry be conducted in this regard.
2d That in the meantime, a complaint by Jyoti, daughter of the petitioner, dated 28.12.2017 was received by the Chandigarh Police stating that her parents were forcing her to marry an elderly man against her wishes whereas she being in love with one Nitin Kumar, s/o Isam Singh, R/o House Number 655, Hallo Majra, Chandigarh, hereinafter referred to as the respondent no. 4 wanted to marry him. That she further stated therein that she had married the said Niting Kumar (documents supporting her marriage including the marriage certificate annexed with the complaint) and her parents having come to know of this fact started troubling not just her but also her Ajay Kumar 2018.04.26 16:22 I attest to the accuracy and authenticity of this document
CRWP No. 219 of 2018 husband and her in-laws. That apprehending a danger to the life of her husband, her in laws and her own, she prayed therein to take action against her parents and further prayed for protection of life and liberty."
Besides the alleged detenue namely Jyoti daughter of the petitioner has appeared in court. She has clearly stated that she is living with Nitin Kumar (respondent no. 4) of her own free will as she has married him. She has further prayed that a direction be issued that they may not be harassed in any manner. Learned State counsel submits that it shall be ensured that no harassment is meted out to couple.
