The limited prayer in the present petition is for issuance of a direction to respondent No.2-District Development and Panchayat Officer, Ludhiana to decide the petition filed by the petitioner under Section 7 of the Punjab Village Common Lands (Regulation) Act, 1961 (for short the 'Act of 1961').

Learned counsel for the petitioner has contended that respondent No.3, against whom the petition under Section 7 of the Act of 1961 has been preferred, had filed a petition under Section 11 of the Act of 1961 and his claim qua declaration that he is owner of the property in dispute stood rejected by the Supreme Court vide order dated 02.01.2025 passed in SLP (C) No.19680 of 2013 (Annexure P-5). CWP-14589-2026 -2was also dismissed and despite the same respondent No.2 is not proceeding with the matter.

Learned State counsel is not in a position to deny the factual submissions made by learned counsel for the petitioner. 4.

In view of the above, the present petition is disposed off with a direction to respondent No.2-District Development and Panchayat Officer, Ludhiana to decide the matter expeditiously and preferably within a period of one month from today. Pending applications, if any, also stand disposed off.
