RAMESHWAR SINGH MALIK, J After arguing the case for some time on merits, learned counsel for the petitioner submits that he does not intend to press this petition any further and may be permitted to restrict his prayer only to the limited extent that the regular enquiry pending against the petitioner may be directed to be expedited.

The alternative prayer made by the petitioner having been found worth acceptance, present writ petition is disposed of, with a direction to the Director, Department of Rural Development and Panchayats, Punjab-respondent no.2 to ensure that the regular enquiry pending against the petitioner is expedited and concluded, within a reasonable time.

With the above said observations made and directions issued, present writ petition stands disposed of.
