Prayer in this writ petition is for a direction to the respondents to grant compensation to the tune of `50,00,000/- on account of death of Rakesh Ray i.e., husband of petitioner No.1, father of petitioners No.2 to 4 and son of petitioners No.5 and 6, caused due to electrocution. It is submitted that Rakesh Ray, died due to electrocution caused by sheer negligence on the part of respondent-authorities in not properly maintaining 11 thousand KV transmission line. It is submitted that representation dated 9.07.2021, Annexure P-4, has been submitted by the petitioners seeking compensation, but to no avail.

Learned counsel for the respondents does not raise any serious objection to the restricted prayer.

Keeping in view the facts and circumstances of this case, but without any expression of opinion on the merits of the matter, this writ petition is disposed of with a direction to the competent authority to decide petitioner's representation dated 09.07.2021, Annexure P-4, after affording an opportunity of hearing to them besides opportunity to furnish any relevant documents to prove their claim, in accordance with law, within a period of three months from receipt of certified copy of this order. In case, petitioners are found entitled to any amount as claimed, the same be released within six weeks thereafter. In case of a decision adverse to the petitioner, same be by way of a speaking order. Writ petition is disposed of accordingly.
