By virtue of instant petition, preferred under Article 226/227 of the Constitution of India, petitioner has sought issuance of a writ especially in the nature of mandamus directing the respondents to rectify the error in their records pertaining to his designation from Assistant Sub-Inspector to SubInspector in consonance with his promotional order dated 02.02.2016 and to disburse the retiral benefits as per his entitlement i.e. towards the post in the rank of Sub-Inspector.

At the very outset of the arguments, learned counsel for the petitioner contends that though representation dated 29.01.2018 (P-6) was moved to the respondents but till date neither any reply to the said representation has been received nor any conscious decision has been taken by the respondents.

Accordingly, instant petition is disposed of with a direction to respondent No.4-Additional Director General of Police, Armed Battalions, Jalandhar, Cantt Jalandhar, Punjab to look into the grievances unfolded by the petitioner in representation (P-6) and to take a conscious decision in accordance with law within a period of three months from the date of receipt of a certified copy of this order.

However, if petitioner still feels aggrieved against any of the order(s) passed by the aforesaid authority, he shall be at liberty to have recourse to the remedies available under law as well as to approach this Court.
