3. Whether the judgment should be reported in the Digest? --- Surya Kant, J. (Oral) The petitioners are residents of village Gurditpura Natian, Tehsil Rajpura, District Patiala. Their grievance is that though private-respondent Nos.5 to 21 are permanent residents of Chandigarh at the given addresses but they are having their votes in village Gurditpura Natian as well, apparently for the reason that originally they belong to that village.

The petitioners' further grievance is that in the elections held in the year 2013, the private-respondents exercised their right to cast votes at village Gurditpura Natian also. The petitioners made a complaint which was apparently considered but finding no final decision, the instant writ petition has been filed.

Heard learned counsel for the petitioners.

CWP No.16695 of 2015 [2] It appears that having regard to the motivated object behind these proceedings suffice it would be to direct the official-respondents to ensure that no one is allowed to cast vote at two places in the same election. As regard to the petitioners' plea that this Court should direct the authorities to take action pursuant to their complaint or to prosecute the private-respondents, we decline the prayer as the petitioners have got effective alternative remedy under the law.
