1. The petitioners have approached this Court seeking directions to be issued to the official respondents to protect their lives and liberty as they apprehend threat to the same at the hands of respondents No.4 to 6.
2. Learned counsel for the petitioners submits that respondent No.4- Preeti wife of petitioner No.1 has eloped with respondent No.5-Surjeet Singh and that after eloping they approached this Court by way of filing CRWP-4118-2024 wherein directions were issued to Senior Superintendent of Police, U.T. Chandigarh to consider the matter. It has been submitted that respondents MOHAN SINGH 2024.06.20 05:28 I attest to the accuracy and integrity of this document
CRWP-5791-2024 (O&M) ( 2 ) No.4 to 6 are in fact threatening to cause harm to petitioner No.1 and his son Vinay Kumar (petitioner No.2) who is a minor and although representation dated 14.6.2024 (Annexure P-2) was submitted to respondent No.2-Senior Superintendent of Police, U.T. Chandigarh, but to no avail.
3. Notice of motion.
4. At this stage, Mr. Deepak Malhotra, Advocate for Ms. Simsi Dhir Malhotra, APP, U.T. Chandigarh has put in appearance and accepts notice.
5. Having heard the learned counsel for the petitioners, but without commenting anything as regards the veracity of the averments made in the petition, the same is disposed of with a direction to respondent No.2-Senior Superintendent of Police, U.T. Chandigarh, to get representation dated 14.06.2024 (Annexure P-2) examined qua the alleged threat perception of the petitioners. In case, it is found that there is genuine threat to life and liberty of the petitioners, then necessary steps as warranted under law be taken thereupon at the earliest.
6. A copy of this order and copy of representation dated 14.6.2024 (Annexure P-2) be sent to respondent No.2-Senior Superintendent of Police, U.T. Chandigarh, for necessary compliance.
