The prayer in the present petition under Article 226 of the Constitution of India, 1950 is for the issuance of a writ in the nature of mandamus directing respondents No.2 to 5 to protect the life and liberty of the petitioners from the cruel hands of official respondents including respondent No.6.

The learned State counsel, on instructions from ASI Baljinder Singh, P.S. B-Division, Amritsar, submits that the petitioners are not required in any case and that if their presence is required either as accused persons or as witnesses, they shall be summoned as per law. 3.

In view of the above, no further orders are required to be passed by this Court at this stage.
