Petitioners are seeking under Article 226/227 of the Constitution of India a writ in the nature of Mandamus for directing respondent No.1 to protect life and liberty of the petitioners. 2.
Learned State counsel, in compliance of order dated 09.07.2024 has filed reply by way of affidavit of Sukhwinder Singh, PPS, Deputy Superintendent of Police (City), Ferozepur and the same is taken on record subject to all just exceptions. Copy thereof has been supplied to the counsel opposite.

Learned State counsel, at the outset, has drawn the attention of this Court to paragraph 6 of the reply wherein it stands reflected that petitioner No.1 had got her statement recorded before the Enquiry Officer to the effect that she was willingly resided with petitioner No.2 and had also handed over the custody of her children to her in-laws family; she had no threat whatsoever from them. CRWP-6437-2024 -2the circumstances, no ground is made out to issue directions to the official respondents to look into the threat perception. However, learned State counsel undertakes that in future if there is any threat, the official respondents will take due steps to protect her life and liberty. 4.
