Learned counsel submits that the petitioners have not been paid their salaries from the year 2022 to 2024 even though the State Election Commission vide letter dated 11.06.2024, Annexure P-5, addressed to the Principal Secretary, Govt. of Punjab, had requested for grant of approval by relaxing the instructions. In this regard representations dated 18.01.2025 and 28.06.2024, Annexures P-6 and P-7 and legal notice dated 26.01.2025, Annexure P-8, have been served, but the same have yet not evoked any response. He, on instructions, prays that a direction may be given to the respondents to decide the same in a time bound manner, to which learned State counsel has no objection.

In view of the above and without commenting upon the merits of the case, this petition is hereby disposed of with a direction to the respondents to decide the representations dated 18.01.2025 and 28.06.2024, Annexures P6 and P-7 and legal notice dated 26.01.2025, Annexure P-8, within a period of 4 months, which this Court has no reason to believe the authorities would not address in a just, fair and reasonable manner. Upon doing so, after notice and hearing offered to them and if found entitled, grant the benefit forthwith. Needless to say, if the orders are adverse to their interest, the same shall contain reasons and the petitioners shall be free to seek legal redress thereupon.
