The present petition has been filed under Section 528 of Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023 (for short-'BNSS') for quashing of FIR No. 225 dated 24.08.2019 under Sections 420,467,468,471,120-B,506 IPC registered at Police Station Industrial Area, Chandigarh and all the subsequent proceedings arising therefrom, on the basis of compromise dated 16.05.2025 (Annexure P-2).

Mr. Tapan Masta, Addl.P.P.., UT Chandigarh accepts notice on behalf of the respondent-State. Learned State counsel states that no other FIR has been registered against the petitioners and they have no known criminal antecedents.

Mr. Davinder Kumar Advocate appears and accepts notice on behalf of respondent No.2. He has filed his Vakalatnama on behalf of respondent No.2 and the same is taken on record. He has also placed on record an original affidavit of respondent No.2 as Annexure P-5 in the Court today and the same is taken on record. CRM-M-27922-2025 -2been effected between the parties and states that respondent No. 2 has no objection to the quashing of the FIR in question. 5.

In that view of the matter, even if this case is taken to its logical conclusion, it would only be an exercise in futility as the parties have already settled their differences. Therefore, no purpose would be served in wasting the time and resources of the State in pursuing this case to its pre-ordained end. It would, therefore, be better to give a quietus to the issue at this stage. 6.

Accordingly, the petition is allowed and FIR No. 225 dated 24.08.2019 under Sections 420,467,468,471,120-B,506 IPC registered at Police Station Industrial Area, Chandigarh and all the subsequent proceedings arising therefrom, on the basis of compromise dated 16.05.2025 (Annexure P-2) shall stand quashed qua the petitioners.
