(ORAL) After arguing for a while, learned counsel for the petitioners seeks permission to withdraw the instant petition while submitting that as regards the prayer of the petitioners to direct the official respondents to look into and decide their representations Annexures P-2 and P-3 and to take action against private respondents No.4 to 6, they (petitioners) would be availing the appropriate and efficacious remedy, as may be permissible to them under law, for this purpose and so far as their prayer qua the protection of their lives and liberty is concerned, they would be moving a fresh representation to respondent No.2-Commissioner of Police, Ludhiana, exclusively praying therein for the said protection only and he further prays that respondent No.2 be directed to look into and take appropriate action on the fresh representation of the petitioners within some specific time frame.

Ms. Samina Dhir, learned Deputy Advocate General, Punjab, who has joined the proceedings on behalf of respondents No.1 to 3 in this case, in pursuance of the copies of the instant petition having been sent to the respondent-State in advance, has no objection to the above-discussed submission as well as the prayer of learned counsel for the petitioners.

Resultantly, the petition in hand stands dismissed for having been withdrawn with a direction to respondent No.2 that in case, the petitioners move any fresh representation to him restricting their prayer therein to the protection of their lives and liberty only, he shall look into the same and if the petitioners would be found to be genuinely deserving the said protection, then this respondent shall take appropriate action strictly in accordance with law, in the given set of the facts and circumstances of the matter, preferably within a period of ten days.
