(Oral) The petitioners have approached this Court seeking issuance of direction to official respondents to protect their lives and liberty as the petitioners who are living in a 'live-in relationship' apprehend threat to the same at the hands of private respondents No.4 and 5, who do not approve of their relationship.
Notice of motion was issued on 01.08.2022 and the following directions were issued to respondent No.3:

Mr. Ankur Bali, Addl. PP, UT Chandigarh, who is present in Court, accepts notice on behalf of respondents No.1 to 3.
It shall be open to the petitioners to appear before respondent No.3 i.e. SHO, Police Station, Sector-31, Chandigarh, who shall do the needful and examine the threat perception and take necessary steps, if warranted, so as to ensure that no harm is caused to the petitioners." Learned State counsel has today produced the copy of DDR No. 043, dated 04.08.2022, Police Station Sector 31, Chandigarh, wherein it is recorded that the parents of petitoner No.1 as well as petitioner No.2 were summoned and all of them have stated that they do not have any objection to the relationship of the parties and that they will not cause any harm to them. Mr. Shri Ram Sajiwan Kushwaha, Advocate, appearing on behalf of respondents No.4 and 5 has assured that respondents No.4 and 5 namely Sailesh Singh and Chanchal Devi will not take law into their hands.
In view of the aforestated position, this Court finds that there is no threat to the lives and liberty of the petitioners.
