The petitioners have approached this Court seeking issuance of directions to official respondents i.e. respondents No.2 and 3 to protect their lives and liberty as they apprehend threat to the same at the hands of respondents No.4 to 8.

As per the case of petitioners, petitioner No.1-Billu aged 39 years was earlier married and has 3 children from the said earlier marriage but his wife being of quarrelsome nature is not residing with him and is presently residing in her parental home. It is further the case of petitioners that petitioner No.2Seema was previously married to respondent No.4-Parveen, who is a drunkard and used to give beatings to petitioner No.2 under influence of liquor. Petitioner No.2 is also stated to be having a son aged about 7 years. Learned counsel for the petitioners submits that respondents No.4 to 8 do not approve of the 'live-in' relationship of the petitioners and are trying to cause harm to the petitioners and although petitioner No.2 had submitted a representation dated 9.8.2021 (Annexure P-3) to respondent No.2Superintendent of Police, Karnal, District Karnal but to no avail. 4.

Having heard the learned counsel for the petitioners and without commenting as regards the sanctity of alleged relationship of the petitioners, the petition is disposed of with a direction to respondent No.2-Superintendent of Police, Karnal, District Karnal to look into the matter and to dispose of the representation dated 9.8.2021 (Annexure P-3) in accordance with law. In case, it is found that there is a genuine threat to the lives and liberty of the petitioners, then necessary steps warranted under law be taken thereupon at the earliest so as to ensure that no harm is caused to the petitioners. 5.

A copy of this order alongwith copy of the representation dated 9.8.2021 (Annexure P-3) be sent to respondent No.2-Superintendent of Police, Karnal, District Karnal so as to enable him to do the needful expeditiously. 6.

It is, however, clarified that the aforesaid order shall not be taken to be any expression as regards the alleged relationship of the petitioners and shall not confer any immunity upon the petitioners, in case it is found that they have committed any wrong.
