The instant petition has been filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India for issuance of directions to respondents No.2 and 3, to protect the life and liberty of the petitioner and his family members, who apprehend threat to their life at the hands of private respondents No.5 to 9, as they are bent upon to implicate the petitioner in a false criminal case on the basis of false allegations.

At the outset, learned counsel for the petitioner has submitted that he would restrict his prayer and will be satisfied if appropriate directions are issued to decide his representation dated 20.06.2024 (Annexure P-6) expeditiously.

In view of the limited prayer made by learned counsel for the petitioner, the petition is disposed of with a direction to respondent No.3Commissioner of Police, Amritsar to look into the representation dated 20.06.2024 (Annexure P-6) and take necessary steps, if any required, in accordance with law at the earliest, to ensure that the life and liberty of the petitioner and his family members is not jeopardized at the hands of the private respondents.
