Petitioners, 3 in number, are stated to be engaged as Block Level Facilitators on contract basis under the Multi-Sectoral Development Programme implemented by Union Ministry of Minority Affairs under the 12th Five Year Plan administered by Deputy Commissioner, Gurdaspur. They were paid consolidated salary of Rs.15,000/- per month. In the instant petition a writ of mandamus has been sought for release of funds totalling Rs.9.18 lakhs for District Gurdaspur so as to facilitate the release of salaries to petitioners withheld for the last 20 months.

Upon directions passed by this Court, Deputy Commissioner, Gurdaspur had come present on the previous date of hearing. He, in support of his affidavit dated 10.8.2018, had stated that the salary of the petitioners @ Rs.15,000/- per month was due for a period of 8 months and 18 days only i.e. from July 2016 to 18.3.2017 as the contract period was not extended RAJINDER PARSHAD JOSHI 2018.10.22 18:53 I attest to the accuracy and integrity of this document

Counsel for the petitioners had disputed the period, however, had consented for accepting the payment of the agreed amount with liberty to raise a separate claim for remaining disputed period. At the time of resumed hearing today, counsel for the parties are agreed that the outstanding salary due in terms of the previous order has since been released to the petitioners. As a matter of fact, the present writ petition has become infructuous\.

In view of the aforesaid agreed stand, the instant petition is disposed of as infructuous.
