Mr. Kamal Singh, Advocate, for the petitioner. Rajan Gupta, J (Oral) Present petition is directed against the order passed by Chief Information Commissioner, Haryana whereby application of the petitioner for supplying the requisite information has been declined. Petitioner filed application before the Registrar, Firms & Societies, Haryana seeking information whether any construction had been raised for library by the Society, if so, how much amount was spent on it. He also sought to know whether marriage of poor girls had been performed in the said premises. Certain other issues were raised by him. Considering the prayer made by him, first Appellate Authority directed the concerned Society to supply documents which would be in the ambit of Section 50 (1) of the Societies Registration Act, 2012.

Dissatisfied with the non-receipt of information, petitioner approached State Information Commission. However, his plea was rejected on the ground that respondent No.4-Society was not a public authority within the meaning of Section 2(h) of the Right to Information Act. He also observed that similar view had been taken in the case of Dadri Education Society, Charkhi Dadri. There is nothing on record to show that Society would be covered under the ambit of the Act to enable the petitioner to seek information. I find no infirmity with the order passed by the State Information Commissioner. Petition is without any merit and is hereby dismissed. (Rajan Gupta) Judge July 14, 2017.
