***** KIRTI SINGH, J. (Oral) CRM-W-864-2024 This is an application filed under Section 482 Cr.P.C., seeking permission to place on record the amended memo of parties of the main petition.

Mr. Randhir Singh Thind, DAG, Punjab, who is present in Court, accepts notice on behalf of the non-applicant/respondent - State, and after perusing the application, raises no serious objection. 4.

In view of the averments made in the application, which is supported by an affidavit, same is allowed.

Amended memo of parties filed along with the application is taken on record. Office to tag the same at appropriate place. Main Case This petition has been filed for seeking a direction to the official respondents to protect the life and liberty of the petitioners from the hands of private respondents (arrayed in the petition) in view of the fact that

CRWP-6165-2024 (O&M) 2 they are living in a live-in relationship and are under eminent threat at the hands of respondents No.4 to 12.

Learned counsel for the petitioners submits that both the petitioners are major and are in a live-in relationship against the wishes of respondents No.4 to 12 and they apprehend danger at the hands of private respondents No.4 to 12. They have placed on record the copy of Aadhar cards (Annexures P-1 and P-2) to substantiate their claim. The petitioners have also submitted a representation dated 24.06.2024 (Annexure P-3) to respondent No.2.

Notice of motion to the official respondents only. 4.

Mr. Randhir Singh Thind, DAG, Punjab, who is present in Court, accepts notice for the official respondents. Counsel for the petitioners is directed to supply a copy of complete paper book to the counsel appearing for the State during the course of the day.

It goes without saying that the protection of life and liberty is a fundamental right emanating out of Article 21 of the Constitution of India and the scope of the present petition is only regarding protection of life and liberty of the petitioners.

Without commenting upon the validity of relationship between the parties and entering upon an exercise to evaluate the evidentiary value of the documents placed on the file, I dispose of this petition with direction to respondent No.2 to decide the representation of the petitioners (Annexure P-3) within a period of one week from the date of receipt of a certified copy of this order and grant them protection, if there is any threat to their life and liberty.

It is made clear that above direction shall not be taken to be a bar on initiation of any proceedings which may be felt necessary in accordance with law.
