(The aforesaid presence is being recorded through video conferencing since the proceedings are being conducted in virtual court) The present petition has been filed under Articles 226/227 of the Constitution of India for issuance of direction to the respondents to consider the claim of the petitioners for grant of ASI Local Rank in view of order dated 07.07.2018 (P-6) issued by respondent No.1, vide which, same benefit, as claimed by the petitioners has been granted to other officials vide circular dated 23.01.2020 (P-8) issued by respondent No.2.

Learned counsel for the petitioners has contended that the petitioners have served legal notice dated 10.08.2020 (Annexure P-9) to respondents, but till date, no action has been taken on the SONIKA 2020.10.09 15:19 I attest to the accuracy and authenticity of this document Chandigarh

Mr. Shireesh Gupta, Sr. DAG, Punjab has put in appearance and accepts notice on behalf of the respondent-State. After hearing learned counsel for the parties and going through the record. I deem it appropriate to dispose of the present writ petition with a direction to respondent No.1 to 4 to take appropriate decision on the legal notice dated 10.08.2020 (P-9) submitted by the petitioners, in accordance with law, as expeditiously as possible preferably within a period of two months from the date of receipt of the certified copy of this order.

Disposed of, accordingly.
