The alleged detenues, whose names have been mentioned in Para No.2 of the petition, are stated to be working in a Brick Kiln under the name and style Durga Brick Kiln, situated in the area of Village Sangatpur, Tehsil Phagwara, Police Station Phagwara, District Kapurthala (Punjab). Learned counsel for the petitioner has further submitted that the petitioner has also moved an application dated 01.10.2020 (Annexure P-1) to the Deputy Commissioner, District Kapurthala, however, no action has been taken to release the detenues. The District Magistrate of the District is the competent authority as per Chapter-IV of the Bonded Labour System (Abolition) Act, 1976 to deal with such like matters. The District Magistrate, Kapurthala, respondent No.2, is directed to consider the application dated 01.10.2020 (Annexure P-1) and act upon the same immediately, in accordance with law.
The present petition stands disposed of with the above directions.
