RAJESH BHARDWAJ, J.(ORAL) Present petition has been filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India for directing respondents No.1 to 3 to protect the life and liberty of the petitioners from the hands of respondents No.6 to 12 and to take legal action against them for committing theft and action may also be taken against respondent No.5, who is openly shielding the accused persons and failed to perform his duty.

Learned counsel for the petitioners states that petitioners have sought protection to their life and liberty. They apprehend danger from respondents no.6 to 12. The petitioners have submitted a representations, dated 13.06.2024 (Annexures P-1 and P-3) to respondent nos.2 and 3, respectively but till date no action has been taken on the same. Without entering upon an exercise to evaluate the evidentiary value of the documents placed on the file, I dispose of the petition with a direction to respondent no.3-Commissioner of Police, Ludhiana, to decide the representation (Annexure P-3) of the petitioners within one month from today and grant them protection, if any threat to their life and liberty is perceived. It is clarified that this order shall not be taken to grant immunity to the petitioners from legal action for violation of law, if any, committed by them.
