MANJARI NEHRU KAUL, J. (ORAL) Petitioners are seeking issuance of directions to the official respondents to protect their life and liberty by providing adequate police protection at the hands of respondents No.4 to 6. 2.

Learned counsel for the petitioners submits that admittedly, the relations between the petitioners and the private respondents are not cordial as a criminal case already stands registered against the private respondents at the instance of the petitioners. After the registration of the FIR in question, the petitioners are being continuously threatened by the private respondents with dire consequences, in which regard a complaint dated 18.06.2024 has also been given to respondent No.2 vide Annexure P-4. He submits that despite the matter being reported to the official respondents, the threat perception is still looming large over their heads and hence, appropriate directions be issued to the official respondents to take appropriate steps at the earliest so that their life and liberty can be protected. On the asking of the Court, Mr. Navdeep Singh, Deputy Advocate General, Punjab, accepts notice on behalf of the State.

In view of the prayer of the learned counsel for the petitioner, the instant petition is disposed of with directions to respondent No.2-Senior Superintendent of Police, District Tarn Taran, to look into the complaint/representation dated 18.06.2024 (Annexure P-4) of the petitioners and take appropriate steps, if required, in accordance with law.
