RAJESH BHARDWAJ, J.(ORAL) Petitioners have approached this Court praying for issuance of writ in the nature of mandamus directing the official respondents No.3 and 4 to protect the life and liberty of the petitioners endangered at the hands of private respondents No.5 to 13 against whom three representations, dated 31.05.2024 and 08.06.2024 (Annexures P-3, P-5 and P-6) respectively were filed. It is further prayed to direct respondents No.3 and 4 to file status report with regard to above sent representations. It is further prayed to take appropriate action on the above-mentioned representations of the petitioners submitted to respondents No.3 and 4.

At the outset, learned counsel for the petitioners restricts his prayer only qua the protection of life and liberty of the petitioners and he does not press the prayer regarding registration of the FIR made in the representation, Annexure P-6.

Heard.

Without entering upon an exercise to evaluate the evidentiary value of the documents placed on the file, I dispose of the petition with a direction to respondent no.3-Superintendent of Police, Sirsa, to decide the representation (Annexure P-6) of the petitioners as per law and grant them protection, if any threat to their life and liberty is perceived. Needless to say that the petitioners have not pressed the prayer made in the representation, Annexure P-6, regarding registration of FIR. It is clarified that this order shall not be taken to grant immunity to the petitioners from legal action for violation of law, if any, committed by them.
